NJ Muslim Voters Project (aka NJ Muslim Coalition) was formed on March 2015 and is comprised of over 100 New Jersey Muslim cultural, political, religious and social organizations.
Its mission is as follows: Increasing Muslim Voters Registration and efforts to “Get out to Vote." Strive to engage youth and young adults to become involved in politics and seek political office. Act as a role model and mentor for our youth/and adult and building bridges among various organizations. Provide support through interfaith in a statewide effort by partnering with New Jersey Interfaith Coalition njifc.org.
NJMVP Key accomplishments within the past two years of operations: Organized and held 30+ meetings at various centers to introduce the mission of the NJMVP. Engaged in voter registrations at major events. Social media tools were utilized to promote “Get Out to Vote” campaign prior to the November 2016 Elections. It was agreed that all organizations would continue to operate independently and utilize this coalition to enhance voter registration, "Get Out to Vote" and youth and young adult engagement.
Our challenges continue on various levels such as: Cultural differences Generational gap Lack of women and youth involvement, and Changing the mindset of the community members that have never voted.
The coalition has eight committees tasked with different responsibilities with a common goal of education, building coalition and supporting each other.
Team 1: IT/Data Base Team 2: Education and Awareness Team 3: Communication and Marketing Team 4: Outreach to non-NJMVP members Team 5: Interfaith Outreach Team 6: Media Team Team 7: Voter Registration Team 8: Politics 1-2-3
We hope that you join this effort and help the community to achieve the ultimate goal of political activism at all levels.
